We are very excited about our new swim tour to Malta. We will swim every day (if you want to of course!) and for those who would like the challenge we will join the locals in one of Malta's main swim events.....5.5k from Gozo to Malta. Don't want to swim?....there is plenty to do. UNESCO's World Heritage site has bee described as "one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world".
Arrive and transfer to your hotel in Sliema (Malta’s centre for shopping, restaurants and café life).
Afternoon swim before meeting for drinks and welcome dinner at one of Sliema’s many restaurants.
Morning swim. After a leisurely breakfast we will take the ferry to Valetta. We will wander through the bustling streets, see the Barracca Gardens with its breathtaking view of the Grand Harbour, St John’s Co-Cathedral with its Caravaggio painting and the Grand Masters Palace.
Remainder of day at leisure.
Early start for swimmers!........transfer to Gozo by ferry. Today’s adventure is to swim back to Malta (approx. 5.5k). This is an annual event organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club (Malta). Each solo swimmer will have their own escort boat and the water will be around 25 degrees Celsius so it should be a very enjoyable experience – in fact you may want to tackle the double- Malta-Gozo-Malta (11k). After the swim we will find a nice bar, have a few drinks and recount our experiences.
Today we will return to Gozo – this time we will have the chance to look around. Visit the temples of Ggantija, the citadel in Victoria, Xlendi Bay and the Azure Window at Dwejra. No need to swim back to Malta - we will take the ferry!
After a morning swim and leisurely breakfast sadly it is time to pack your bags and bid farewell to Malta.
Tours and transfers as specified (except ferries)
In the pipeline we are planning an extension to Sicily to swim the straits of Messina (between Sicily and Calabria).......the trip will be from 28 August (ferry or flight to Sicily) to 02 September. Our Cinque Terre tour starts 03 Sep.....details available soon.
